Biography

- 16th year teaching for Bristol Virginia Public Schools (began at age 32)

- have experience teaching Special Education, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade classes

- former golf professional (collegiate All-American and four-time Tennessee state golf champion by age 21)

- two children and two grandchildren

- former Virginia Teacher Of The Year

- former McGlothlin Award Winner For Teaching Excellence (five state area)

- former finalist for National Teacher Of The Year

- teach once weekly at Bristol Virginia Jail (have helped over 150 inmates earn their GED and return to society)

- former Bristol Little League coach and umpire (8 years)

- former Big Brother Of The Year (for Tri-Cities Area)

- current golf coach at VMS

- created a non-profit organization, called The Better Earth Foundation, with the purpose of inspiring children to a lifelong love of Nature

- hobbies: having fun, volunteer work, hiking, reading, staying in contact with former students

Class Expectations

Only two rules:

(1) Raise your hand and get permission before you speak

(2) Do your best on your work at all times

Classroom Supplies

     $5.00 Activity Fee
     Three (3) folders with pockets and metal clasps
     Three (3) flexible poly 1 inch 3-ring binders
     Wooden pencils (No mechanical pencils)
     Loose-leaf notebook paper
     Crayons, colored pencils, or washable markers
     2 Pkg. (5 count) subject dividers with pockets
     Scissors
     Highlighters
     A protractor (for use at home)
     1 box (12 count) red pens for Math
     2 boxes of tissue
     A ruler (for use at home)

Your child will need these supplies the first day of school.
For safety reasons, do not send mechanical pencils and pencil sharpeners. Paper, pencils, and highlighters need to be replenished throughout the year.
