The Elementary Summer Technology Academy!
  • This year's Academy is open to any teacher who will be teaching in one of the four elementary schools for the 2007-2008 school year.
     
  • 20 teachers will have the opportunity to take their technology skills to the next level.
     
  • Teachers who have attended the Academy in the past are eligible to participate again as we will be covering new material, however, first time attendees are given priority.

Goal

Teachers will learn to determine when and where to integrate appropriate technology tools in the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning of the VA SOLs using the following tools:

  • SharePoint Portal
  • Blogging
  • Podcasts
  • Online resources
  • English/Writing SOL integration will be featured.
     

Conditions

  • Participating in training June 11 - June 15 from 8:00 AM to 1:30 PM; Products produced will be posted on the Portal in a Portfolio accessible by all teachers. Payment may be withheld until projects are complete.
     
  • Participants will attend three after-school sessions during the 2007-2008 school year from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM to be scheduled at a later date; Maximum recertification points: 6
     
  • Participants can earn up to twenty (20) recertification points or one full staff development day for the preparation and presentation of sessions for planning and presenting staff development sessions.

Technology Summer Camp!

Upcoming 4th and 5th grade students will be invited to attend Technology Summer Camp on June 14 & 15 from 9:00-12:00.  Academy participants will work with students on the skills and lessons they have developed during the academy.  Students will be chosen by teacher recommendations.
