I have always wanted to be a teacher. It just took me longer than I expected to get full time into the classroom. After having taught for 2 years, I took 20 years off to raise 2 children. I ventured back to school when I taught pre-school science at Creative Learning Center here in Bristol . When I decided that I really wanted to get back into the classroom, I began substituting in the Bristol VA City Schools. As luck would have it, I was a long-term sub in 1998 and have been here ever since. I have been teaching 2nd grade and I love the process of helping little minds expand with knowledge. I am a graduate of Guilford College in Greensboro, NC with a major in Elementary Education. I have taken graduate courses in Gifted Education and Computer/Technology. In 2000 I was very fortunate to have been 1of 20 teachers in Virginia selected to go to Egypt as part of the VA State Department of Education Egyptian studies. |
