Tracey
Dingus grew up near Lebanon, Virginia, where her father was a dairy farmer
and her mother was a homemaker. She has often said that her
mother, Clara, was her first and best teacher. Mrs.
Dingus and her two sisters,
Tammy and Lavada, grew up working on the family farm.

1989 - graduated
with honors from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia, with a BS
degree in Early and Middle Education (NK - 8). Recipient of Liberty
University's Elementary Student Teacher of the Year Award.

1989 - Began her
career teaching 4th grade at Robert S. Payne Elementary School in
Lynchburg, Virginia. During her first year of teaching, she was selected as
Lynchburg
City Schools' Beginning Teacher of the Year as well as being their
nominee for the Sallie Mae Teaching Award.

2001, 2005, & 2006 - Mrs. Dingus was selected by her colleagues as
Stonewall Jackson Elementary School's Teacher of the Year
·
2001 - Chosen as one of three finalists for the prestigious
McGlothlin Excellence in Teaching Award.

2003 - Invited to become a member of
Delta Kappa Gamma International Society,
which promotes professional and personal growth of women educators
and excellence in education.

2005 - Successfully completed the rigorous standards to become a
National Board Certified Teacher through the
National
Board for Professional Teaching Standards.

2006 - Selected as the Bristol VA Rotary Outstanding Teacher
of the Year
·
2007 - recipient of the YWCA Bristol Tribute to Women
award in recognition and appreciation of her outstanding
contributions in the field of Education.

2007 - elected to a 3 year term as a member of
ABTEL (Advisory
Board on Teacher Education and Licensure) which advises the
Virginia State Board of Education on matters regarding teacher
preparation programs and issues relating to teacher licensure.
Since September 2008, Mrs. Dingus has served as the Chair of ABTEL.

2008 -
named to the Library of Virginia's Teacher
Advisory Panel. The purpose of this panel is to review and
provide input on strengthening the existing and proposed
projects and programs developed by the Library of Virginia’s
Division of Publications and Educational Services to serve the
educators and students of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in
accordance with the Library of Virginia’s mission to provide
access to the most comprehensive information resources for and
about Virginia’s history and culture.

2008 - began teaching 6th and 7th grade at
Virginia Middle School.

Mrs. Dingus often conducts workshops on topics related to SOLs, technology,
teaching, student learning, and National Board Certification
·
Mrs. Dingus
& her husband, Greg, have 2 sons, Logan and Peyton. Greg is
the Director of Forecasting & Sales for Alpha Natural Resources. Logan is a
tenth grader at
Virginia High School and Peyton is a eighth grader at Virginia
Middle School. In her free time, she enjoys reading on her
Kindle 2, singing
at church, quilting, babying her Yorkies (Rascal & Miss Maggie), playing with her
computer, and mostly just piddling around.
