Elementary Philosophy

| The
purpose of Van Pelt Elementary School is to provide an environment in
which the student will develop intellectually, emotionally, and
physically in order to become a contributing member of society. Each
student will be challenged to develop to full potential through
personalized programs that provide flexible learning situations and a
variety of learning activities, within an atmosphere of challenge and
acceptance. |

| It is the responsibility
of the school staff to provide each student the opportunity to acquire
and retain basic facts, ideas, and concepts, and to develop an intellectual
curiosity and a desire for learning that will extend beyond the school
years.

| Each student is influenced
by the community in which he lives. Therefore, cooperative and supportive
interaction between the school and the community will be maintained.
