Up-To-Date Information

If you should change jobs, move, or get a new telephone number, etc., please notify the office so that accurate files may be maintained.  THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT! not only for the school but for the well-being of your child in case of an emergency.

Student Expectations

Behavior of our students is to be such that it does not interfere with the learning process and should contribute to the academic progress of all students in the school.  All faculty members expect compliance with rules and respect from the students.

Students are not permitted to use gum at school.

School dress should be in good taste and appropriate for the daily activities and weather conditions.  Shoes are required, but for safety purposes, we recommend that high heels and shoes with slick soles not be worn.  Hats are not to be worn inside the building.

Parents should label items such as coats, sweaters, book bags, etc., which their child will be bringing to school.  Toys should never be brought to school unless written permission is given from the teacher.

Homework
The goals of homework assignments are to provide essential practice in needed skills and to promote growth in assuming responsibility.  Assignments will include activities which reinforce concepts taught in the classroom, make-up work, and projects.  Homework will be evaluated in class, and parents are asked to work with their child's teachers to assure that assignments are completed.
Housekeeping
Everyone is charged with the responsibility of keeping a clean building.  Books, papers, coats, etc., are not to be left on the floors.
Student Supplies
It is important that children come to school with the materials necessary for learning.  Pencils and paper are necessary each day.  Individual teachers may also require additional materials such as notebooks or folders.  In each case, the teachers will notify the parents of the necessary supplies.
Educational Resources
Library, art, music, and physical education are available at each school.  The school division provides special services for eligible students such as classes for speech, learning disabilities, educable mentally handicapped, Title I, and gifted.
Parent-Teacher Association (PTA)
The PTA is an organization which promotes a cooperative relationship between parents and teachers.  It provides an opportunity for parents to have a collective voice in school affairs.  A strong, supportive PTA will benefit every student in the school.  Parents are urged to join and become active in the educational process for their child.
Volunteers
Volunteers assist teachers in the classroom on a regular schedule.  Parents and friends of the school who may be interested should contact the office of the principal.
Visitors
All visitors report to the office before going to any other part of the building.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Regular school conferences are scheduled for Fall and Winter.  Additional conferences may be arranged at anytime during the school year upon request of either parent or teacher.  These conferences are held before or after school.  The best time for parent-teacher conferences is between 8:00 - 8:30 A.M. and 3:00 - 3:30 P.M.
School Transportation
Transportation will be provided for students to attend the schools in their attendance zone.  In situations in which a child has been approved to attend a school out of zone, the parents are required to provide their own transportation.

Students are expected to board and leave buses in an orderly manner.  Students are to ride their assigned bus and to board and deboard at their assigned bus stop.  While riding buses and at the bus stop, students are under the authority of the school and the bus driver.  The importance of safety cannot be over-emphasized; therefore, students are expected to behave appropriately.  Students who misbehave will be reported to the school administrator for immediate disciplinary action.  Repeated misbehavior may result in the loss of the student's bus privileges.  To ensure student safety, bus evacuation drills are conducted to familiarize students with emergency procedures.

Fire Drills
Fire drills will be held periodically during the school term.  All students will be oriented by their classroom teacher in regard to fire drill procedures.
Students Leaving School
Parents or guardians must come to the office to sign the "sign-out" sheet prior to picking up their child.  Please notify the office if you plan to pick your child up either by calling in the morning or sending a note to the teacher.  NO STUDENT MAY LEAVE SCHOOL during school hours UNLESS accompanied by a parent or guardian and/or on a field trip.
Homebound Instruction
Homebound instruction is available for children who, according to their doctor's evaluation, are unable to attend their regular school program for an extended period of time.  Parents should contact the school or school system's visiting teacher.  The superintendent must make final approval for any homebound student.
Money
It is strongly recommended that students not be allowed to bring more money to school than will be needed each day.  In addition, it would be most helpful for each child to have a safe place to carry money.  Money which is lost or stolen is seldom recovered.  The school cannot be responsible for a child's money.  Instead of sending lunch money each day, parents are encouraged to buy weekly lunch tickets.
Lost Books
Textbooks should not be exchanged with other students.  Students are required to pay for lost and/or damaged textbooks and library books.  The price of a lost book is determined by two factors: the original cost and the age of the book when it was lost.
Lost and Found
Unmarked articles are placed in a "Lost and Found" box.  Items which are clearly marked are returned to the owner.  Unclaimed articles are disposed of after a reasonable period of time.
Fundraising
Students are not allowed to participate in door-to-door solicitation for fundraising activities.  However, other fundraising activities are conducted by PTA's or by the school.
