First

The first graders stay busy every day learning to read, write, and think mathematically.  The students are guided through sight word practice, Saxon Phonics drill, small group reading instruction, independent reading practice, and the enjoyment of quality literature.  Math textbooks and reinforcement activities are used in teaching math skills.  The students and teachers enjoy time spent on unit studies integrating the science, social studies, and technology Standards of Learning for Virginia Public Schools.
