The Queen of Hearts campaign is a month-long, fund-raising event where girls from Virginia High School, Tennessee High School, John S. Battle High School, and Sullivan East High School attempt to raise the most money for the American Heart Association.  The high school that collectively raises the most money wins the Crump Memorial Award that recognizes the school for its achievement.

During the month of February, each candidate, her campaign managers, and teams of volunteers raise money to benefit the American Heart Association for research to combat heart disease and stroke.  The girl that raises the most money at the end of the month is crowned Queen of Hearts at a gala held for the candidates and campaign managers.

The representatives from Virginia High School for 2008 are:

Meghan Murphy Hobbs:  Grade 11

Meghan is the daughter of Richard and Beth Hobbs.  She is a cheerleader, plays tennis and swims on the swim team.  She also is involved with the Bristol Youth Leadership, Bristol Area Youth Council, SADD Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Interact, Citizens in Action and Future Leaders of America. Meghan was recognized  with the Regional Governor's School for Mathematics and Science.

"When I was eight years old I attended my first Queen of Hearts Banquet.  I knew then that I wanted to make a difference in the community of Bristol by participating in Queen of Hearts."

Megan Luttrell:   Grade 12

Megan is the daughter of Justin and Denise Rouse and Tim Luttrell.  She has participated with the Yearbook Club, DECA Club and served as junior vice president for the Future Business Leaders of America.  Megan also is involved with the Historians and won first place with the FBLA multi-media presentation at regional's in 2007.

"I would like to participate in Queen of Hearts because my grandfather and great-grandfather dies from heart attacks.  I want to help others because heart problems affect most all of us.  We all probably know someone who has had heart problems and I would like to help end their suffering."
