CRAFT DESIGN
1 hour/1 unit                            9160                                          Grades 9-12

This art course is intended for selected students working on a Modified Standard Diploma or IEP Certificate.  The course will feature craft projects.  To enroll students must have teach recommendation. 

ART I                                                                                 
1 hour/1 unit                            9120                                          Grades 9-12

This course acquaints the student with basic art concepts, materials, and techniques.  Art appreciation and a study of our American heritage are included as an integral part of the program.  Instruction includes basic design, basic drawing, practical composition, lettering, posters, and picture mounting and display.

ART II                                                                                
1 hour/1 unit                            9130                                        Grades 10-12

This course is a study in color and advanced design, using a wide variety of media.  Compositions are representational and imaginative.  Students create displays, exhibits, school bulletin boards, and posters in art contests.       Prerequisite:  Art I

ART III                                                                               
1 hour/1 unit                             9140                                       Grades 11-12

In this course students are guided to form their own painting styles and to select and use a variety of media. Greater individualism and self-reliance are expected of the student in the planning and formulating of projects. Participation is encouraged in local and state exhibits and competitions.
Prerequisite: Art II

ART IV                                                                             
1 hour/1 unit                              9145                                      Grades 11-12

Advanced Art is for the student who has expressed a deep interest in art and who plans a vocation in art or an allied field.  Students select individual projects for concentrated exploration.  This class offers the student the opportunity to develop an art portfolio for contests and scholarship applications.                                                                                            Prerequisite: Art III
