Students participate in lifetime individual sports, team sports, weightlifting, and personal fitness activities. Students will be assessed on the Virginia Related Fitness Test and participate in the DARE program/Family Life curriculum.

WELLNESS 10 AND DRIVER TRAINING 
7405                            Grade10                          1 hour/1 unit 

This course includes family life education, substance use/abuse, and First Aid/CPR and safety.  It also includes the Virginia Wellness Related Fitness test, lifetime individual and team activities, and weightlifting and conditioning. In addition, students will have the opportunity to certify in the American Red Cross life guarding, CPR and First Aid upon completion of the course. Students who want Red Cross certification will be expected to pay the Red Cross fees.

This course also prepares students to pass the state requirements for a Virginia driver’s license. Students not taking or passing Driver Education must wait until age 19 to obtain a license.
Prerequisite:
Successful completion of Wellness 9

LIFETIME  FITNESS AND CONDITIONING LEVEL I
7640                           Grades 11-12                        1 hour/1 unit
 
This class is designed to enhance the student’s overall level of physical fitness. Any student interested in weight management, body shaping, or athletic power may choose this elective class. With an emphasis in weight lifting, other low level activities will include jumping rope, agility drills, and flexibility. This course is an elective and does not count as one of the two required wellness credits

LIFETIME  FITNESS AND CONDITIONING LEVEL II     
7650                          Grades 12                            1 hour/1 unit

This class is designed for those students who have completed a level one course. Intensity levels will increase and new lifting techniques will be introduced. Speed, agility and quickness drills will also be included in this class. This class is an elective and does not count as one of the two required wellness credits.
Prerequisite: Successful completion Lifetime Fitness and Conditioning Level I
