College Applications

If you have not yet applied to the college of your choice, you need to do that by December 19.  If you need help, see Mrs. Huff.  If you apply on-line, let Mrs. Huff know so your transcript can be mailed to the college.  The college will not act on your application without your transcript.

SAT II

Check to see if your colleges require the SAT II Subject Tests.  Testing will be in December and January.

UVA Wise will also host a reception for interested students and their parents on Wednesday, November 12 at 6:00 pm at the Higher Education Center in Abingdon, Virginia.

Scholarships

Applications for the following scholarships are in the guidance office if you are interested:

  • Lee-Jackson Scholarship

If you are interested in this scholarship of $1,000, you must write an essay about Generals Lee and Jackson.

  • American Legion Oratorical Contest

You could win $1,500 for writing and orating a speech sponsored by the American Legion.

  • Virginia Intermont

If you are interested in attending Virginia Intermont College, please see Mrs. Huff.  Scholarships are available.

  • American Fire Sprinkler Scholarship

Write and essay on automatic fire sprinklers and how legislation 1824 may affect fire sprinkler installation in your community.  You could win $4,000.

  • Sports to School Scholarship

If you plan to attend a four-year college and participate in athletics, you may apply for this $1,000 scholarship.  Apply on-line at http://www.sportstoschools.com/scholarship.html.
