On July 30, 2004, Virginia High School was recognized by the Council on Accreditation and School Improvement Commissions on Elementary, Middle and Secondary Schools accreditation. The faculty and staff of VHS have worked hard gathering and analyzing data for the most recent School Improvement Plan and a SACS Quality Assurance Team will visit in October of this year to review the plan. One part of the process involves development of a school's shared beliefs and a mission statement. Following are Virginia High School's beliefs and mission.

Shared Beliefs
  1. Student learning is the primary focus in all aspects of the school.

  2. An effective school produces confident, self-directed, life-long learners.

  3. All students can learn when provided with a variety of instructional techniques to meet the different needs of the individual. Exceptional students (e.g. special education, limited English proficiency, talented and gifted, etc.) require special services and resources to be successful.

  4. Students learn best when they are challenged and actively engaged in a variety of venues including problem solving.

  5. A safe and physically comfortable environment promotes learning and encourages appropriate decision-making.

  6. Parents, students, teachers, administrators and the community share responsibility for advancing the school's mission.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide learning opportunities with the most up-to-date technologies and methodologies to all students. Our goal is to produce well-rounded graduates who are prepared to further their educational, cultural, and vocational interests and to succeed as citizens in a competitive and a changing world.
