Tutoring services through People Incorporated is available to students this year.  Students who are recommended for tutoring must be those who have potential to make good grades, but who are not meeting their potential.  In addition, these students should have some interest in attending college.  These students will be required to participate in our Project Discovery program which provides valuable information on how to prepare for college.  Project Discovery also provides one college visit per month, free of charge.  Campus visits usually include lunch in the college cafeteria, tours conducted by college students, and athletic events. Each student must fill out an application for Project Discovery, which are available in the Guidance Office.

The program is operated by People Incorporated and is provided at no cost to its participants. Applications for enrollment in this program are accepted during the first month of the school year. Accepted applicants attend after- school workshops once a month. Topics include: goal setting, life planning, choosing a college, college admissions, financial aid, study skills, and SAT preparation.

Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program (VGAP): Project Discovery participants in need of academic assistance are provided an in-school tutor. There are additional eligibility requirements that must be met. The tutor meets with the participant twice weekly. Enrollment is limited and all slots are usually filled within the first two months of school.
